Because I luv your dog, as much as you do!
Fur the Luv of Dogz was created out of a genuine and lifelong interest in dogs. I have always been fascinated by their psychology and have had many bonds with dogs of all sizes over the years. But, I wasn't always a dog groomer.
As a kid, I wanted to be a vet or a hair dresser. But then life got in the way and I ended up on a different path. For years, I got up each morning and made the commute to the office where I enjoyed the work. But just like the cliche, something was always missing! Then I started approaching 40, the kids got older and I realised that although I was paid nicely for what I did, it wasn't enough. I needed more in my life. I wanted the hours to disappear as I did something meaningful, it had to be something I loved doing.
For a while I ummed and ahhed, back and forth worrying that I was too old to change careers, but getting scared that I was becoming too old NOT too. I still loved dogs and I loved the transformations I saw on my own dog each time I took him to the groomer. Even though the excitement on his face when I picked him up was contagious, I knew the grumpy old boy didn't like being left in a salon with other dogs every 8 weeks. As he got older and I moved suburbs, I struggled to find someone who could fit him in. I decided to learn myself..... lets just say, those first few haircuts he received from me were quite shocking! But, we were both happier and I'd found my calling!
So like a crazy lady, I quit my job and enrolled in a dog grooming course. It was the scariest, but the best decision I ever made! To follow my dream, I've navigated countless roadblocks. Through a number of lockdowns I've battled the banks to buy a van, I've dragged my gear in and out of people's homes and worked in some back breaking conditions just so that I could do what I love. I work harder now than I ever thought possible, but I still think it was the best decision I ever made. I smile more and look forward to getting out of bed each day!
While you could easily find a more experienced groomer, the reason I groom and my determination to work with dogs means my furry friends are always treated with care, respect and love. Many dogs who cry, bite and scratch still love me once they are put on the ground for a play at the end of their time with me. And THAT is why I've persevered through the roadblocks this weird and wonderful world has thrown at me.
Fur the Luv of Dogz, because I luv your dog as much as you do!
